Kegging Beer 3
Kegging Beer 3
Wednesday 29, October, 2025
So now have all the bits and ordered a D coupler keg adaptor and it worked fine. Also a quick release for the liquid side so can use the nutritap on that end.
I had unboxed the CO2 in regulator and tested it with the D-coupler keg kit and it works fine. It filed the keg with CO2 but no pressure as sodastream CO2 bottle almost empty and I'd not sealed the outlet when filling the keg so the CO2 leaked out, but some left in the keg at this point.
I unscrewed the Spears on both kegs and soaked them in the sanitiser from last bottling run. But I haven't cleaned out the kegs yet.
I need to do them both at the same time so can use the PBW- Powdered Brewery Wash and desolve, clean one, then pour into 2nd keg and clean that, then sanitise one & then 2nd then they will be ready for CO2 and beer.
Question, doser I use sugar for carbonisation?
clean keg:
Sanitize keg:
Then it'll be ready for filling with beer.
Steps:
- Keg 1 PBW- then pour into
- Keg 2 PBW- Then toss PBW
- Rinse out Keg 1 & Keg 2 with hose outside and drain in garden.
- Keg 1 Sanitizer- then pour into
- Keg 2 Sanitizer- Leave in and replace spear.
- Boil sugar in 1/2 cup water and pour into keg 1.
- Brew Fermenter drain into Fermenter 2 after adding sugar for carbonization
- Clean out hops strainer and clean first fermenter with hose and rinse out yeast outside
- Sanitizer to fill fermenter 1.
- CO2 into keg 1 so when beer poured in from Fermenter 2 (with filter attached) it will pour into a CO2 environment, not Oxygen enviro.
- Keg 1 Put in spear 1 and tighten - then ready for 2 weeks for carbonation
- After decanting fermentor 2 wash out fermentor 2 with hose outside
- Pour sanitiser from Fermentor 1 into Fermentor 2
- Prep Brew with Extract & dextrose for next brew in fermentor 1.
- Fermentor 2 & 1 into cupboard.
- Store Keg 1 out of sunshine
Ready for trinking- 2 weeks later
Use release valve to purge pressure in Keg 1 and then attach Sodastream CO2 to Keg dispenser for correct pour pressure (12 PSI/BAR) CHECK
Adjust NutriTap for pressure so not much froth & pour.
Trink beer. Hopefully yummy yummy.
